Whole Bakers Sponsors Special Olympics

WHOLE BAKERS SPONSORS 40th ANIVERSARY GALA FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ILLINOIS CHICAGO – (July 21, 2008) – Whole Bakers, a gluten-free treats company, sponsored the ‘Inspire Greatness’ Gala on Saturday, July 19, at the International Ballroom at the Hilton Chicago. The gala was held to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the very first Special Olympics Games which occurred in 1968 at Chicago’s Soldier Field and helped start the beginning of a global movement.

Whole Bakers sponsored two athletes at the event which allowed them to attend the gala with their families. Whole Bakers also provided cookies and organic coffee from their line of gluten-free treats along with T-shirts as silent auction items for the gala.

“Just like Special Olympics Illinois, we [Whole Bakers] got our start in the windy city too,” said Whole Bakers owner, Patty Stewart. “It was an honor to help out for such a great cause.”

The black-tie event celebrated the energy, creativity and vision that helped push forth the Special Olympics movement. The gala featured cocktails, dinner and a special performance by the City Lights Orchestra. Funds raised from the evening directly benefited the 21,000 athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

Whole Bakers has also been asked to provide their tasty treats to all of the athletes participating in upcoming Special Olympics Games as well. For more information, please visit www.sochicago.org.
